CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Tewolde Gebremariam, described the Qatari capital as “one of the most vibrant and fastest growing economic hubs in the Middle East.”
He added: “The new flights to Doha willoffer better connectivity and more convenient mobility between the state of Qatar and the continent of Africa.”
The new addition is hoped to benefit travellers to and from Doha through with easy access to Ethiopian’s extensive African network via its hub at Addis Ababa.
Connections available include to and from 49 cities the likes of Johannesburg; Nairobi; Lagos; Accra; Dakar; Dar es Salaam and Entebbe.
The news closely follows Ethiopian’s announcement that it has signed a codeshare agreement with All Nippon Airways (ANA) in a bid to strengthen links between Africa and Japan.
As of October 26, travellers have been able to book connecting flights on Ethiopian flights between Addis Ababa and Bangkok; Hong Kong; Frankfurt; Paris; London; Nairobi and Mombasa through ANA.
In return, the African flag carrier will place its code on ANA’s daily Bangkok–Haneda and Hong Kong–Tokyo Narita routes.
