The best Ethiopian comedy ever, by unknown artists!

I've seen several Ethiopian comedies in  my entire life, some comedians are confused by the difference  between comedy and making fun of people's culture and way of life, in most cases  they don’t know the real boundary between insulting people and artistic expressions.  I always ask myself why these people are butchering people’s language and culture to be a comedian. I love comedy even it is a silent movie. I think comedy (if it is done properly) is a soul food for our life. Recently I've noticed several Ethiopian video clips are joining the YouTube revolution. This is really great!

Since most new TVs  (SMART TV) and DVD players are coming with YOUTUBE installed or enabled,  it is common to watch an Ethiopian video  from the comfort of our home in our TV as long as there is  aWiFi and internet access. That was the main reason  every night instead of watching regular TV my family is watching Ethiopian videos via YouTube.   For our surprise we found out that we are way behind from watching Ethiopian movies and we are doing our best to catch up with the whole Ethiopian TV/movie culture.   For now our best method or shortcut to watch Ethiopian movies is just search in Youtube by using search words or phrases like “Betoch”,”Amharic Comedy” , “Ethiopian Movie”, “Ethiopian Music”, “Zefen” and so on. By doing these search words, we are able to watch some of  best Ethiopian movies in the net. But what we've watched about few days ago is our best Amharic comedy ever we've watched for long time. The clip is only a 4:48 minutes video, unfortunately we are unable to find the rest of the movie. Now we are asking you to locate the entire version. The clip is titled “ENEYE/እንዬ "

By the way all the casting team we saw in this movie are unknown or we never seen them before, but they deserve 10 out of  10 or A++ for the following reasons.

  1. Originality = 10
  2. Authenticity   = 10
  3. Linguistic Quality   = 10
  4. Message Quality  and Delivery= 10
  5. Overall Flow =  10

Ethiopia, Kenya & Ghana bid to host 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana have announced their interest in bidding to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations following Libya's withdrawal as the host nation.

Libya pulled out last week because of ongoing fighting in the country that has delayed plans to build new stadiums for the 16-team tournament.

Ethiopia, who hosted the tournament in 1962, 1968 and 1976, say they will submit their proposal immediately.

Ethiopia Football Federation president Junedin Basha told BBC Sport: "We already have two ready venues, the Addis Ababa and the Bahir Dar stadiums, and the construction of the other venues has also reached to a good level.

"Our government is ready and interested to do everything it can to bring the tournament back to Ethiopia."

Kenya said in a statement that they are also considering a joint bid with Tanzania or Uganda or Rwanda.

And later on Tuesday, Ghana sports minister wrote on his Twitter page: "I am happy to announce that Ghana will bid to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations."

The Confederation of African Football has set a deadline of 30 September for countries to express their interest in hosting the tournament.

A decision on Libya's replacement will be made in 2015.

American, US Airways Pull Business from Orbitz

American, US Airways Pull Business from Orbitz

American, US Airways Pull Business from Orbitz
Maybe it’s only temporary.
Maybe it’s just a negotiating ploy.
Nonetheless, in an industry-shocking move Tuesday that could have a domino effect, American Airlines announced it has pulled its fares off of online travel agency Orbitz.com and its affiliates, effective immediately.
American’s merger partner, US Airways, will pull its fares from Orbitz effective Monday, Sept. 1. Combined, American and US Airways account for 25 percent of the domestic air travel market.
American said it could not come to an agreement with Orbitz on a new contract. That also might bode well for traditional travel agents, something American Airlines president Scott Kirby alluded to in a statement.
“We have worked tirelessly with Orbitz to reach a deal with the economics that allow us to keep costs low and compete with low-cost carriers,” Kirby said. “While our fares are no longer on Orbitz, there are a multitude of other options available for our customers, including brick and mortar agencies, online travel agencies, and our own websites.”
That Orbitz will not be able to sell flights on American and US Airways is not only costly to the online portal, but ironic. American was one of several airlines that invested in Orbitz when the company was created in 2000.
Orbitz downplayed the significance of American’s ploy.
“Our sites offer hundreds of airlines which are eager to capture the revenue American is choosing to forego, and we will continue to show our customers a broad range of flight options to thousands of destinations in the U.S. and worldwide,” Orbitz said in a statement.
Nonetheless, the news shook Orbitz. Shares of Orbitz Worldwide closed at $8.04 on Tuesday, down 4.63 percent – and at one point it was down more than eight percent before rallying at close.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Orbitz’s 2010 annual report noted that for American Airlines, “tickets booked on our Orbitz.com and Orbitz for Business sites, including ancillary revenue from associated hotels, car rentals, travel insurance and destination services revenue, represented approximately 5 percent of our total net revenue.”
Whether this is a negotiating tactic on the part of the airline remains to be seen. American pulled this maneuver before, in 2010, in a similar contract dispute but did eventually return its fares to the online booking agent.

Italy recovers 24 bodies in deadliest refugee days

Italy recovers 24 bodies in deadliest refugee days

ROME (AP) — Another 24 bodies were recovered Tuesday from an overturned fishing boat off Italy's southern coast as would-be refugees fleeing increasing instability in Libya saw their deadliest few days this year with more than 300 drowned.

The U.N. refugee agency said the worst incident occurred Friday near Garibouli, east of Tripoli. That boat was reportedly carrying at least 270 people when it overturned and sank. Only 19 people survived, according to Melissa Fleming, spokeswoman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva.

On Tuesday, the Italian navy said two of its patrol boats recovered 24 corpses from a capsized smuggler's boat Sunday night. Their remains, as well as 364 survivors, were headed toward Augusta on Sicily's east coast.

The U.N. agency said more than 300 would-be refugees have been killed since Friday and that 1,889 have died since the start of the year, including 1,600 since the beginning of June when the influx grew exponentially as the security situation in Libya deteriorated.

More than 100,000 people have arrived in Italy so far this year thanks to increasing instability in Libya, where human smugglers operate. Some 42,000 had arrived in all of 2013. Most of the migrants hail from Eritrea, Syria, Somalia and other African nations. They pay hundreds or thousands of euros apiece to Libyan-based smugglers to make the treacherous crossing to Europe.

At a meeting Wednesday with the EU's home affairs commissioner, Italy's interior minister is expected to demand that the European Union do more to help Italy rescue the migrants. Italy launched the 9.5 million euro ($13 million) a month "Mare Nostrum" operation last year after more than 360 migrants drowned when their boat capsized off the Italian island of Lampedusa.

"As more refugees and migrants risk their lives at sea to reach Europe ... urgent action is needed including in finding legal alternatives to these dangerous journeys," Fleming said, according to a U.N. summary of her remarks.

ይሁኔ በላይ አዲስ ሙዚቃ አወጣ

Yihune Belay is one of few Ethiopian authentic  Amharic transitional singers who is still keeping his root,  now he is  ready to bless us with his new release album entitled Siyamer Chewataw". ሲያምር ጨዋታው . Yehune is becoming  the best role model for several upcoming Amharic traditional singers,  with his unique and melodically reach songs he is becoming the stepping stone for several new Ethiopian artists. One of the best quality for Yihune's artistic sophistication is his selection of lyrics and melody which pinpoints the traditional Ethiopian Amharic locales. This time instead of relaying on camera techniques  and  green-screen manipulation, Yehune traveled to Ethiopia (on-site) to shoot some of the clips  for his upcoming video release. By doing this expensive trip he is able to capture the best of the best original Amharic traditional songs  and ready to share with us. Enjoy!

Ethiopian to Decide on Plane Soon

Ethiopian Airlines will soon decide the planes it will purchase from Co and Airbus Group NV. The Airline is planning to add as many as 70 new jets to its fleet.
Tewolde Gebremariam, Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopian Airlines Group, noted his company will also later commit to adding 20 more long-haul planes to its fleet.
The deal is said to have a total list price of over U.S $ 11 Billion.
According to the Chief Executive Officer, Ethiopian is considering to buy either the Boeing 777X or Airbus' A350-1000. The deal would have a list price value of about U.S $ 8 billion, depending on which model it settled on.
There is some difference on the date the deliver will be made by the airplane manufacturers. Airbus plans to deliver the A350-1000 beginning in 2017. However, Boeing will deliver 777X a few years later.
According to Tewolde, Ethiopian was also considering placing 20 firm orders for either Boeing's 737 Max planes or the Airbus A320neo, with options to take 10 more planes.

Tech's Fiercest Rivalry: Uber vs. Lyft

For now, the battle is lopsided. Uber, led by sharp-tongued technologist Travis Kalanick, operates in nearly three times as many markets as Lyft, whose co-founders Logan Green and John Zimmer have crafted a friendlier image by attaching fuzzy pink mustaches to cars and encouraging passengers to greet each other with fist bumps. Uber also has four times as many employees and five times the amount of funding from investors.

Forget Apple vs. Google. The fiercest battle in the tech capital may well be between two heavily financed upstarts plotting the demise of the taxi industry—and each other.

Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. operate just blocks from each other in San Francisco, yet their bitter war has spilled into dozens of cities where they are racing to provide the default app for summoning a ride within minutes.

The two rivals are undercutting each other's prices, poaching drivers and co-opting innovations, increasingly blurring the lines between the two services.

But this is more than two tech darlings duking it out. It's a battle for a key role in the future of urban transportation. Many commuters now rely on Uber and Lyft to get around rather than taking cabs, buses or trains and, in some cases, their own cars.

The loudest opposition to the ride-sharing apps comes from regulators, taxi drivers and local taxi commissions, which have moved to ban the companies from operating, offering proof that a multibillion-dollar transportation industry has entered a phase of rapid transformation.

Meanwhile, the potential market for these companies may stretch beyond rides. Investors who bid up the value of Uber to $18.2 billion in June are betting it can expand into being the backbone of a logistics and delivery network for various services—a kind of FedEx for cities.

But a market-share lead doesn't assure success. By dreaming up new ways to move passengers from point A to point B, Lyft and other ride-sharing startups have created new arenas of competition.
Uber vs. Lyft

Troubling Tactics Alleged: Lyft alleges that 177 Uber employees have ordered and then canceled more than 5,000 rides on the Lyft service since last October. Read more about this latest twist.

The Return of Commissions -- With a Twist

The rivalry extends to the recruitment of new drivers, the lifeblood for the services as they attempt to build the biggest networks with the the fastest pickup times. A Lyft spokeswoman said Monday that representatives from Uber have abused its service in the past several months with the goal of poaching drivers and slowing down its network. Passengers who identify themselves as working for Uber frequently order a Lyft and then ride for only a few blocks, sometimes repeating this process dozens of times a day, she said.

Many of these representatives may actually be Uber drivers motivated to get a bounty by referring a new driver. According to an email Uber sent to drivers in May that was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, the company offers $250 for referring a new driver to its service; $500 for referring a Lyft driver; and $1,000 for signing up a Lyft "mentor," an experienced Lyft contractor who helps train new drivers.

A spokeswoman for Uber denied the company is intentionally ordering Lyft rides to add congestion to its competitor's service, but confirmed the company does offer recruitment incentives. "We recently ran a program where thousands of riders recruited drivers from other platforms, earning hundreds of dollars in Uber credits for each driver who tries Uber," she said.
Another salvo in their battle occurred last week, when both companies unveiled similar carpooling services within hours of each other. The two offerings, Lyft Line and Uber Pool, will both let passengers ride with strangers and split the bill, lowering the cost of regular commutes.
Pooling customers may mean fewer rides and less revenue for ridesharing companies at first. But over time, the appeal of cheaper commutes could entice new customers to sign up and boost usage by existing riders, said Mr. Zimmer, Lyft's president.
Lyft has been developing a carpooling model for several years and acquired a team to lead the effort months ago, Mr. Zimmer said, adding, "I think it's flattering when other companies look at how we're innovating and want to do similar things."
An Uber spokeswoman said that company has been working on UberPool for several months and filed patents involving carpooling late last year.
Regarding the competition, the Uber spokeswoman said: "Uber was first to market by years, back in 2010 when nobody believed any of this was possible. We now have competitive clones on each of the five continents where we operate, and that competitive spirit is good for consumers and for the marketplace."
Lisa Gansky, an investor in smaller ride-sharing startup Sidecar, said that new features can gain popularity so quickly that it makes sense for Uber and Lyft to match one another in case something becomes a big hit. Last week, Sidecar also said it has been testing a carpool feature for several months.
Given all the money Uber has raised, it could afford to buy Lyft and end the rivalry. The smaller startup was valued at $700 million in a round of funding in April, and Uber just banked $1.2 billion from investors in June. But Mr. Kalanick has been dismissive of other startups, instead pursuing a strategy of building the most popular features in the marketplace.
The most successful clone in ride-sharing is UberX, which Uber launched in 2012 to pair amateur drivers with passengers. Up until then, Uber was a high-end car service offering Lincoln Town Cars and white-glove treatment. But just months after Lyft launched and began to popularize the concept of ride-sharing, Uber introduced its own service, becoming in the process a more affordable transportation network for a wider variety of customers.
For its part, Lyft has borrowed heavily from Uber. Uber originated a real-time map showing nearby drivers, and the design of Lyft's app is similar. In addition, Lyft's "prime time" prices for peak-demand times are a variation of Uber's surge pricing.
The startups also compete in lockstep on pricing. Both companies have squeezed their profit margins to reduce prices and add more customers. Lyft earlier this year went so far as to forgo its 20% commission on rides.
On Monday, Lyft said it is reintroducing commissions but will base them on how many hours its drivers work per week. A driver who logs 50 hours or more won't have to share any fees with Lyft, for instance. At the other end, one who drives fewer than 15 hours will share the full 20%.
The company also said it will begin keeping 20% of "prime time" pricing, a policy change that could rattle Lyft drivers who are used to keeping all of those extra fees for themselves.
Mohan Lama, a former yellow cab driver in San Francisco who now drives for Uber, believes more drivers will stop using Lyft when the company begins taking commissions again. "The day Lyft will start commissions, their drivers will stop working," he said. "Lyft is in a trap."
Courting drivers has also meant offering them an array of benefits, from insurance to new-car financing. This past March, Lyft and Uber each announced in the same week they would add insurance between rides, rather than just covering the time a passenger is in the car. Those moves helped placate regulators, who have raised questions about the culpability of ridesharing startups when accidents occur as drivers are on their way to pick up passengers.
At times, the fight between Uber and Lyft has gotten nasty. In March 2013, Mr. Kalanick challenged Mr. Zimmer on Twitter about Lyft's offer of an insurance policy. The back-and-forth ended with Mr. Zimmer asking Mr. Kalanick to stop by his office. The Uber CEO responded by tweeting, "you've got a lot of catching up to do... #clone."
The ease with which Uber and Lyft can imitate each other's features highlights the ride-sharing industry's low barriers to entry, said Thilo Koslowski, an analyst for Gartner Inc. Because Uber and Lyft don't own cars or employ chauffeurs, they are essentially matchmakers between drivers and passengers, he said.
But investors who have poured a total of nearly $2 billion into the two companies are betting the apps will have staying power. Millions of people are now used to riding with Uber, and the app is still one of the most popular programs in Apple's App Store.
"Organizing demand is remarkably hard and extremely powerful," said Bill Gurley, a partner at Benchmark and a member of Uber's board. "Being installed on someone's iPhone on the home page is a pretty sticky place to be."
