October 9, 2016: Rita Marley, the
widow of reggae superstar Bob Marley was admitted to Miami hospital on
September 22. According to the Jamaica Observer, Mrs Marley was admitted
after suffering from symptoms consistent with a stroke. New reports online say that Rita was extremely ill when she arrived, and Mrs. Marley is reported to have passed away at approximately 2am this morning.
She was the mother of 6 of Bob Marley’s children – Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Cedella Marley, Sharon Marley, Stephanie Marley, Serita Stewart. Rita also was lead vocalist for the reggae group the I Threes, with Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths.
She was 71. May she rest in peace.
