How to make Door Wet by AI

Doro Wet is a traditional Ethiopian dish made with chicken and a spicy berbere sauce. Here is a simple recipe for making Doro Wet at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound chicken pieces (such as legs or thighs)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons berbere spice mix
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

  2. Add the chicken to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the chicken is browned on all sides.

  3. Add the onion and garlic to the pan and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the onion is softened and fragrant.

  4. Add the berbere spice mix, salt, water, wine (if using), and tomato paste to the pan and stir well to combine.

  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the Doro Wet for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

  6. Stir in the butter and cilantro (if using) and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  7. Serve the Doro Wet hot, with injera or bread on the side. Enjoy!
