If you’re keen to get married but just can’t find the right person, one young woman could have provided the solution.

Having been single for almost six years, Grace Gelder decided to marry herself.

The photographer and filmmaker told The Guardian that the ceremony was a way of recognising and cementing the powerful relationship she had established with herself while not involved in a relationship.

“I’d been essentially single for almost six years and built up this brilliant relationship with myself. Nevertheless, I was aware of getting into a rut, where a relationship with someone else seemed like too much hard work,” Gelder said.

“So I really wanted to pay tribute to this adventurous period of self-discovery but, at the same time, look forward to a new phase.”

Gelder said she had been inspired by a Björk song called “Isobel”: “[I] have a strong recollection of when I was 18 at university and studying performance art, hearing that line in a Björk song called Isobel: “My name’s Isobel, married to myself,” and thinking, crazy as that sounds, I totally get that.

“It’s about making this pact or promise to yourself and then somehow enacting that in how you live your life from that day on.”

Gelder decided to propose to herself in a park bench situated in Parliament Hill in November and the ceremony took place at a Devonshire farmhouse in March. Around 50 people attended, including her sister.

Despite having some doubts in February - “I found myself asking, why was I really doing this? Was it just some vainglorious stunt?” - Gelder maintained that she was happy with her decision.

Her friend Tiu, who trained as a celebrant, oversaw the marriage, helping and encouraging her as she planned the unusual wedding.

However, Gelder stuck to tradition when it came to the ring and the vows - although the ceremony was sealed by kissing her mirror image rather than another person.

Gelder said: “I really don’t see it as any kind of feminist statement, but creating a wedding of this kind on my own terms felt incredibly empowering.

“My self-married status – meaningless though it may remain in the eyes of the law – has also given me this great sense of clarity. I seem to sense much more clearly than before if something is worth pursuing or best left alone.”

She added: “And just because I married myself, it doesn’t mean that I’m not open to the idea of sharing a wedding with someone else one day.”

For three years her body lay in her apartment, all alone, with the television still on.  She was surrounded by Christmas gifts—it appeared that she was still in the midst of wrapping them.  But yet, this young lady lay dead without anyone noticing or caring about her whereabouts.
Joyce Carol Vincent was only 38 years old when she apparently passed away, and 41 years old when her remains were finally found laying on her living room sofa.  Her body was so badly decomposed that the reason of death could not be determined. She was identified from dental records.
And yet no one checked on her for three whole years.
Her body was finally discovered after Building Officials invaded her home on a repossession order.  The year was 2006 when they finally took possession of her place.  Once they entered into the apartment, a pile of mail greeted them in the front entrance and the apartment was covered with spider webs from the ceiling to the floor. If you bought at least one Red Bull between January 1, 2002 and October 3, 2014, the company owes you a $10 check or $15 worth of free Red Bull Products. It’s all due to a $13 million lawsuit the beverage company has decided to settle with Benjamin Careathers.

Careathers, a Red Bull drinker, claims that the drink maker misled him and other consumers with its slogan “Red Bull gives you wings.” He says the company advertised some of the benefits of drinking Red Bull include increased performance, concentration and reaction speed. Of course, none of this was ever proven or backed up by scientific evidence.

Bevnet.com quotes the lawsuit as determining:

A 7 oz. cup of drip coffee contains approximately 115 to 175 milligrams of caffeine, depending on the blend, and a 12 oz. serving of Starbucks coffee costs $1.85 and would contain far more caffeine than a regular serving of Red Bull. An 8.4 oz. can of Red Bull contains 80 milligrams of caffeine.

To claim your $10 cash refund, all you need to do is register online at the link below before March 2, 2015. Again, you don’t need any proof of purchase. See the link for further details.

DALLAS, TEX. — Thomas Eric Duncan died Wednesday morning, according to the hospital here that had been treating him for Ebola.

Duncan, the first person ever diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, died at 7:51 a.m., according to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

“He fought courageously in this battle,” the hospital said in a statement. “Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”

The Duncan family said in a statement that they are devastated by the news of his death.

“We had high hopes that Thomas would survive this scourge and we were optimistic that…delayed hospital protocols would help Thomas survive,” the family said. “We are hopeful that remedies here and and in parts of the world will be taken for those who have become inflicted with this horrible disease.”

Relatives were

Mawhen Jallah, the daughter of Duncan’s fiancee Louise Troh, sobbed with grief during a phone call Wednesday. “I am so sad for Eric,” she said.

Youngor Jallah, Troh’s other daughter, could be heard weeping in the background during a different phone call on Wednesday morning.

“Youngor is crying right now,” said Aaron Yah, Jallah’s husband. “She cannot talk.”

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and a family pastor went to tell Troh about Duncan’s death on Wednesday morning.

Family members gathered in Dallas were able to see Duncan on Monday at the hospital via a laptop camera in his hospital room. He was on dialysis and a respirator, according to health officials. Saymendy Lloyd, a family spokeswoman, had said that the family was told that Duncan’s liver was improving and his fever was dropping.

Duncan traveled from Liberia to the United States last month. About five days later, he began developing symptoms and sought treatment at the hospital, but he was sent home for reasons that still remain unclear.

He was brought back in an ambulance two days later and placed in isolation. On Sept. 30, he was diagnosed with Ebola. Duncan had remained in critical condition for several days and had recently been given experimental treatment.

“I’m praying for my family to be okay,” Duncan’s 19-year-old son, Eric Karsiah Duncan, said at his mother’s church Tuesday night. “I am praying that my dad makes it out safely….I hope they find a cure.”

Some of the people close to Duncan said they felt he was not properly treated because he was not American.

“He is a Liberian man,” Massa Lloyd, a close friend of Troh, said Wednesday. “The family feels he wasn’t getting the right treatment because he was an African man. They feel America is fighting only for the white man, not the black man.”

The loss was described as particularly painful because of how Duncan sought treatment but was released by the hospital.

“It’s devastating,” Princess Duo, 32, a longtime friend of Troh’s and her family. “It’s not just the fact that he’s dead. But it’s just the way in which it happened. That’s what hurts the most.”

Duncan joined a handful of other Ebola patients who have received experimental drugs during the course of the outbreak. Two U.S. missionaries infected this summer while working in West Africa were given doses of another unapproved drug, known as ZMapp, but the limited supplies of that drug were soon exhausted. An experimental medicine from a Canadian company, Tekmira, was given to another American doctor who was flown to Nebraska from West Africa for treatment

Stargazers are getting excited for a “Blood Moon” total lunar eclipse early Wednesday morning, with viewing opportunities aplenty for those near the Pacific Ocean.
The second — and final — total lunar eclipse of 2014 will occur early Wednesday morning, just before sunrise in the Eastern Time Zone and in the middle of the night on the West Coast.

The moon will appear a coppery red, so it's been called a "blood" moon. It'll look red because of all the sunsets and sunrises from the Earth that will reflect onto the lunar surface. (During the eclipse, although it's completely in the shadow of Earth, a bit of reddish sunlight still reaches the moon.)

You don't need special glasses or gizmos to view it, unlike a solar eclipse, so feel free to stare directly at the moon. Binoculars or a telescope would improve the view.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, Earth and the full moon form a nearly straight line so that the full moon passes through theEarth's shadow, called the umbra.

Finally! The flying car that really could be coming to a road (and sky) near you

AeroMobil says its third prototype is ready to be shown to the world this October 29th at the Pioneers Festival in Austria.

However, design is still not perfect- the wings fold into the back seat behind the driver when in car mode.

The firm has also released a video of it in action, driving through city streets then taking to the air.

'Aeromobil 3 is stylish, comfortable for both the driver and passenger, and exceptionally combines the performance of a sports car with qualities of an 'ultralight',' it says.

Viral video shows angry man confront panhandler in Oklahoma City
KLAHOMA CITY – A video of an angry man confronting a panhandler taken here in the metro has gone viral on Facebook.

The video has received nearly 2 million views and more than 36,000 shares in just two days.

The video shows a man confront a 78-year-old woman, who allegedly begs for money at N.W. 140th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. on a daily basis.

The video was taken after he saw the woman get into a brand new car.

Daniel Ayala says he approached the elderly woman and said, “You ask for money in the middle of the street and you’re driving a 2013 car.”

Things got heated quickly between Ayala and the panhandler in far northwest Oklahoma City.

Graphic language: Language in the video may not be appropriate for all audiences.
“Listen, I work hard for my money. That’s why people like you take advantage of people like me. This is bull****,” said Ayala.

The woman behind the camera was with her son when they saw the beggar get into a brand new Fiat.

“I was like, ‘That’s the lady I gave money to.’ I was looking straight ahead thinking, ‘I just got duped by a little old lady,” said Brandi Newman.

She was taking a photo of the woman when she heard an angry man start yelling.

“If I see this car tomorrow. I’m going to f***ing bust a window,” said Ayala.

Some people might say Ayala went too far with the threats, but he doesn’t seem to think so.

“I gave that lady over $15 in five days. $15 could make me enough to come to work for gas. For her to just take my money like that,” said Ayala.

Newman believes Ayala’s threats were justified.

“Of course, it’s not right to bash somebody’s windshield in. I didn’t think he was going to do that for a minute. He’s just trying to prove a point that you don’t come here again, don’t do this again, quit scamming people,” said Newman.

Ayala says he didn’t know Newman was filming him.

“I’m famous, I’m going to Disney World,” said Ayala.

Newman says the 78-year-old’s family contacted her on Facebook and told her their grandmother has a panhandling permit.

The family says their grandmother “isn’t doing anything illegal,” and claim they are appalled by the video.
